Real fire
The plumber came this morning and seemed to be here for longer than I thought he would need to be. A couple of times he had to head out for some spare parts but, by the time he had finished, we had new, non-dripping, taps; a cistern that fills quickly and doesn’t drip for hours and a new toilet seat. I think it was a good day for the flat. We noticed that the toilet flush was a bit sticky after he had left but, I hope, this will loosen over time.
It’s nice to be able to work from The Island. I have a view of the recreation ground from the window in the room I use to work. It’s still got the new oven in the background which won’t be fitted until Wednesday but it’s got my desk and a comfortable chair. Daniel did notice the different coloured walls behind me but it’s no problem to work from here. I’m convinced the Wi-Fi is better.
After work PY suggested we went for a drink to a place he’s seen recommended on the High Street: The Star Coffee & Ale House. It’s a lovely pub that appears to have been recently taken over by a couple from London. It has, apparently, changed from a typical town centre pub to a funky venue with lots of neon and vinyl for sale. The were signs for live music and quiz night. We stayed drinking red wine for longer than planned but when there was a cozy fire and it was cold outside, what else could we do? We’re planning on coming back for breakfast.
We stayed so long that we decided a Domino’s Pizza would be the best. We went and ordered. Just in time, I noticed that there was a 2 for 1 offer and we amended our order to pay less for more. It seems the chap behind the counter wasn’t going to draw our attention to it. The extra food will work for lunch tomorrow. While we were waiting for it to be cooked we nipped across to the Weatherspoons and had another quick drink before crossing back to pick up the pizza and head home. Hopefully, in spite of being a bit tipsy, we were quiet enough when we got back to the flat.
