Welsh Oak Longhorn

When Charlii contacted me yesterday to ask (for a neighbour) what this beetle was I was immediately excited, because it is a Welsh Oak Longhorn beetle, a not too common species that is expanding it's range.
Anyway i asked her to ask the person to pot it for me, and as it turned out she had quite a few emerging from an Oak log she had indoors ready for burning on the fire!! Luckily they did emerge really albeit a bit early ( the adults are usually found April onwards) or they might have all died. As it was the lady put the log outside and let the beetles get on with it! and i got my first photo shoot of 2023 - what a species to kick the season off!
