Longmynd
Today's the day ....................... to go back in time
We're away for a few days - based in Shrewsbury - and so able to explore one of my most favourite parts of the country.
There are two reasons why I like it so much. One is that the scenery is so diverse and often strikingly beautiful. The other is that its geology is very special - some of the oldest rocks in Britain are to be found here. Back in the mists of time as a young geology student, I was able to reproduce a geological map of the Welsh Borderlands from memory. Unfortunately, that skill has long gone - but I still feel a sense of being in a sort of geologists' Mecca when I'm here.
So this is Will on top of the Longmynd, where the oldest rocks are to be found - looking towards Hope Bowdler, Caer Caradoc and the Lawler.
Oooh - I can feel the hairs on the back of my neck standing up already ...................
