A Chocolate Indulgence

It's M's birthday today, and along with some bottles of fine wine and a fascinating book, he also received a box of his favourite chocolates, Rose & Violet Creams.  Rich, dark chocolate with a fondant filling flavoured with the delicate fragrance of these two flowers and topped with candied flower petals.  Apparently, these became very popular in England during the 19th century. The history of these floral flavored chocolates goes back many years in Europe, pre-dating the “after dinner mint” as one of the first boxed chocolates ever made.


To celebrate, we're off to our favourite restaurant tonight for dinner.
