Car Trouble....
Its a Red Letter day in the Prout House today....
....after months and months of pontificating, followed by weeks of searching the local-wide-web and nearby dealerships for a 'just older than nearly new' Ford Focus....
Sarah is now the very proud owner of a really nice new(ish) motor :)
It's taken about 6 months in all to get the deal done though, for a number of reasons....primarily because I am enormously tight-fisted and begrudge parting with a penny/cent more than is absolutely necessary....
The real reason though, is that it's taken Sarah this long to finally come to terms with the fact that she will no longer be the "Mother Trucker"....
Let me explain....for the last seven+ years (since our youngest arrived) Sarah has driven an 8 seater Toyota Previa....it's a big old beast of a car and with our big family it's been through a lot....when Meg was little and before I had my two new hips the old truck would comfortably haul around the six of us, a pushchair, all the paraphernalia that comes with four kids and an electric mobility scooter....!
We've done a fair few family miles in her....and Sarah loves her....hence Mother Trucker....
The thing is, now that the kids are older, we rarely all go out in the truck together so it's solely used to do the primary school runs and go back n forth to the gym....and with it's big ole engine....it's costing a fortune to run.....hence the down-size.
We didn't trade in the truck though....no, she is still on the drive and we will part with her, when we find the right buyer.
But we finally fixed on a much more economical new ride........oh and it's not a Focus ;)
