Summary of story thus far...
‘Little Legs’ has worked for Viking Taxi’s and it’s gangster like boss Mick ‘The Otter’ for many years. Inertia and The Otters malign influence keep him tied to a life of dissipation and disappointment. Things come to a head when Mick catches his wife using the phone in a sex act. Little legs (Tommy) is on the end of the line. Their affair revealed, Little legs leaves town and makes for Blackpool, a place both distant and associated with happier childhood memories.
Meanwhile in Blackpool, Walter (The ex ‘Lytham Giant’) works in a change booth in ‘The Coral Island’ amusements arcade. An ex freak show performer he still misses the life which afforded him at least a bit of showbiz style and decent money. On a sudden impulse /act of defiance he uses his bulk to invert a grab machine enabling the theft of a number of rolled up tenners plus some teddies. Now a fugitive from the enraged arcade owner and the law, he agrees to meet some impressed onlooking punks that evening in a pub nearby.
Little legs, who just happens to be drinking in the pub and Walter, make up one half of the audience. The show involving as it does a performance artist called Mo appeals to Walter’s sense of theatre and Little legs attraction for noisy guitars. The bands driver, a tattooed neo-nazi from Bedford whose only discernible good points are a driving licence and an ability to score weed anywhere disappears after a row over a missing loaf .With nothing to lose Walter and ‘Little legs’ agree to come with the band as driver and roadie on a hastily scratched together European tour culminating in a gig in Prague.
