Hand painted envelope

In recent years my husband has taken up stamp collecting. He is part of a global group focusing on particular themes. He received this hand painted envelope for the Year of the Rabbit from a member in the USA this morning.
Kanji approved and asked if this is a portrait of a new friend for him. Sadly not.
