Rural police intervention

It wasn’t the gendarmes but the local village police who came knocking on the door. The loppers that I ordered arrived yesterday, so this morning I set about pruning the tree which was threatening an overhead fibre cable and the corner of our roof. I dragged all the cuttings to the bins in the street up the road arranging it tidily for a Monday collection. The police came knocking at my door and said that I could not put the cuttings out until Sunday evening and they made me drag the whole lot 50 metres down the street back to my drive. I was not too pleased as it had been quite hard physical labour and I was tired. I felt like telling them to find something more important to do like catching criminals or even the dog owners who let their dogs defecate outside the front of our house every day! I decided however, that that was not a good idea!
