Nunnankirkko
Emma left to Kotka with her team. Hubby, Peetu and myself drove to Eräpyhä nature reserve area in Orivesi, where we met my sister and her husband. We had lovely walk in the woods, I really enjoyed! It was very beautiful there, so much new snow.
(New snow has one disadvantage: snowballs pile into Peetu's fur. He removes them furiously himself, but most of them can not be removed until they start to melt in warm / in warm shower.)
We climbed up to quite steep hill, and on the top there was a historical site Nunnankirko (Nun's Church). The photo is from there, After climbing down, we had lunch break by a campfire.
Nunnankirkko is a burial place dating from the Bronze Age. It was known already in 1700s. One theory is, that ancient hunters who rested, ate and slept on the Eräpyhä promontory, made sacrifices at Nunnankirkko asking for more luck in hunting and fishing. Others think that Nunnankirkko was used as a church from beginning of 1300s. Villagers believed there was a treasure under the stone heap. Stones were moved in 1860s, but no treasure was found. Stones were left around the area for a hundred years, until the burial place was reconstructed in 1966.
When back home, we watched Pyrintö women's basketball game: they had great win! Peli-Karhut - Tampereen Pyrintö 73 - 84.
They were back in Tampere midnight, hubby picked Emma up.
-1,3 °C, cloudy
