Jamaica Pond. Leitz Summicron 50mm DR
Today was not one to be out and about: we were thumped by a Nor'Easter overnight, bringing a wintry mix. But somehow we were, and I found myself with enough time to go on a short Blip expedition. Over the years, I have returned many times to my old neighborhood from the 1980s, Jamaica Plain. One of its main delights, is the Pond, where, in summer one can rent a row boat, take a stroll around the circumference, or just sit on a bench and think one's thoughts. The trees on the tiny island are showing the very first hint of spring. It lined up nicely with the Tudor-style boathouse and bandstand, with the village center in the background. The Pond, and the Muddy River which flows from it, form part of Frederick Law Olmsted's Emerald Necklace, one of Boston's treasures. The two Extras are from there, Olmsted Park.
