The Security
For many people, Saturday afternoons are about “the football”. I must confess, I skipped the footie gene. When asked which team I support I mumble that I don’t - it’s clearly not the right answer :-) But in the north west of England, even if you don’t follow a team you cannot avoid knowing something about the game, it’s an undercurrent to so many people’s lives.,
Prescot Cables were playing Mossley at their Valerie Park ground this afternoon. They play in the Northern premier league and from what I could see have quite a following. The ground is at the end of a terraced street just to the north of the town centre (a bit of a northern caricature) , and the game was in its latter stages when I wandered down to have a look. I couldn’t see much of the pitch, but for the record Prescot won 2 : 1. The supporters will have gone home happy.
