Rutland Water.
In 1970 it was decided to flood the Gwash valley in Rutland to create a new reservoir. Normanton church was deconsecrated and was ready to be lost. After an action group was set up to save it, it was decided to pour rubble and tonnes of concrete into it to prevent flooding and the floor was raised. Boulders were placed around forming a jetty to prevent water damage to the structure. It is now a wedding venue and a very popular tourist attraction.
