An evening of theatre

FEATS, the annual Festival of European Anglophone Theatre Societies, is back home in The Hague. The Koninklijke Schouwburg, or KS, has been the location for this fab festival.

Tonight I've watched three very different plays; the first, well chosen for an audience largely made up of theatre performers, was about a guy rehearsing a play, learning his lines, adding distinct actions and working with lighting cues. The second, a Michael Frayn play was, and I agree with the adjudicator, a little over acted. The third was performed by a youth theatre group about a classroom full of students locked inside as their crazy supply teacher leaves them to go and watch the repatriation parade of fallen soldiers at Wootton Bassett.

I'd forgotten how much I love the theatre. I know I love being on stage and I certainly feel at home on the Stage Management crew but tonight it was perfect just being able to sit in the audience and enjoy somebody else's hard work for a change.

I may well return tomorrow...
