Snow?

There was no sign of the forecast snow, and the light was beautiful at the end of the afternoon. Earlier I'd spent the morning catching up with things overlooked last week, so that I can tackle the first of a few things whose deadlines are looming. Hence I was able to spend the afternoon reading the first chapter of a PhD thesis that I'm examining in Berlin at the end of the month. It's my first time as an external examiner and, unlike my experiences of being an internal examiner for theses I scarcely understand or care about, this is going to be fun. It's right in my area of expertise and the candidate is a friend.
