Black-throated Trogon ~ Female

This little lady really appealed to me. I say "little" because she's small for a trogon, but really a pretty good sized bird - 23 to 24 cm long. The male black-throated trogon looks very different.

In other news - we saw a SECOND Northern potoo this afternoon. The one on the river yesterday was a *known* potoo - so the guides took us there especially to see it. Today's potoo was spotted by one of our group (not a guide!) totally out of the blue. It is the first of today's extras. The second extra is a butterfly called "black and white sapho" - which if you didn't see it open its wings would be puzzling. Sort of like the gigantic blue morpho, I suppose.
