I Can Walk On Water
I visited King's Mead in Ware looking for damselflies, which I love to photograph. A friend up North is posting pics and I've yet to see one this season.
No luck. :( I saw loads of crane flies, lots of click beetles and plenty of hover flies. The spider pictured is Tetragnatha extensa. It is an orb web spider and adopts the extended leg pose as camouflage. Tetragnatha means four jaws, in reference to its fearsome mouthparts. I shot it on the bank of the New River. These spiders are commonly found near water and can actually walk on it.
