Nippy night
A glorious day, after the coldest night since I began recording on 12th December; it dropped to -5.8 on the corner of our deck.
Mrs M & I set off down town to buy a paper and one or two other items - the usual stuff. We went the longer way round, along Duncraggan Road, where there are good views out over the mountains of Mull. How lucky are we to have this view no more than five minutes from home! In the foreground, above the rooftops, is the modern Corran Halls, then the old Church of Scotland, now a children's playgroup, then the Alexandra Hotel (now the MGM Muthu Alexandra Hotel!), then the Oban Cathedral. Beyond that is the island of Kerrera with the Hutcheson Memorial and finally the Isle of Mull. Along the Mull coast to the right Duart Castle can be spotted, with the white marker on Lady Rock in front of it.
We dropped down to the seafront to see if anything was happening and as we came along to the North Pier made a sudden decision to pop into Piazza for lunch. Not a bad lunchtime view - see extra - but as often happens, a customer along the other end of the room asked for the blind to be drawn down as the sun was too bright!
Sat outside on the deck this afternoon in the bright sunshine - only marginally warm enough at 11 degrees.
