Spring??

Dark, dreary weather belies the fact that we are now in meteorological spring. I had an afternoon  walk round Castor Hanglands NNR and was struck by how quiet it was, nothing much moving now the cows have been taken off, no birds singing - everything on pause. 

This pond is reputedly one of the most diverse in England - quite hard to believe today. Not a single green shoot to be seen!
