Sway Away the Day
[Harry Bertoia’s Free Interpretation of Plant Forms (1967)]
I see waves. Glorious, curvy, undulating movement
In all its sensuality.
I find myself mesmerized.
I walk around the sculpture to see it from all angles.
I close my eyes to sense the feeling of this movement
Inside and outside my body.
I want to sway with the waves,
But I am in public, so stop short of this movement.
I will go home later, close my eyes, put on music,
And sway away the rest of the day.
