Sani Nature Reserve

The area around the hotel is a nature reserve of pine forests and wetlands so this morning we went on a bit of a hike.

The tortoises live wild and occasionally appear on the beach.

The Sani Wetlands are a renowned bird sanctuary very popular with twitchers for the incredible variety of birds visiting in summer and winter.

The Chairman of Sani has written in the Introduction of a book on the Wetlands "This glorious place is truly a blessing bestowed on us by God, and we all have a duty to protect it . ."

Amen to that.
