2994. Freshly ground coffee and a book
Having a lazy day today after yesterday’s stressful antics…up late (for us)…wee job completed, (moving our two fridges and cleaning behind them) and then nothing planned for the rest of the day.
Hubby has put some rosé champagne into the fridge for later as we got a delivery of 12 bottles of my absolute favourite champagne from Pieroth yesterday and we’re running out of room to store it…so an excellent excuse to drink some! It is my one alcohol weakness as I rarely drink, apart from an occasional gin and lemonade.
Floella Benjamin is such an inspirational lady, I absolutely adore her, for her work and for being such a wonderful person. My eldest is one of her Playschool Babies and I just love the way she refers to these 40 and 50 somethings like this. I wanted to read her autobiography so managed to get a copy online as my local bookshop didn’t have it. The opening chapter refers to her audacious audition for a part in the touring musical, “Hair” which she attended in her lunch break from the bank where she worked. When they asked her to wait after her audition she told them she couldn’t and that if they wanted her she needed £30 a week to give up her job and she would not take her clothes off then she walked back to work! Needless to say she got the job!
My eldest always called her Floe-wella and still does to this day and they’re 40 years old!
