Anyone for bobbins?

Wet day but managed to visit Stott Park Bobbin Mill, which is now run as a working museum by English Heritage.
We were given a demonstration of how the bobbins were made - from tree trunk to finished article. It was a working mill until the 1970's when it became no longer economic. The working conditions were hard and the equipment lethal with no 'safety guards' and high speed lathes. Children as young as 12 were employed for 12 hour days along with their elders.
