Short and slow in the snow
FRIDAY
The snow was around 20 cm deep at 06:30 am this morning and still falling.
After a cappuccino and a bowl of cereal I put on my spiked running shoes and headed out on a short (3 km) run up Scholes Lane (extra) and down the bridleway through Crawstone Hall Woods (mai blip). It was difficult going. In places snowdrifts were knee-deep. It's normally a fast section down through the woods but not so today as there must have been half a dozen fallen trees or heavy branches obstructing the path.
Shortly after arriving home, a tree came down further up the lane stopping traffic including the grritter (see extra). The local arborists were quick on the scene - their vehicle can be seen in the distance just on the corner of the lane.
Blue skies and sunshine for the rest of the day. Temperatures of minus 7º C are forecast for later tonight.
