Dundee Tapestry

Another bright but chilly day

We went to the V&A Design Museum to see the the first of the Tapestries on display. They are part of a series, crafted by volunteers, depicting the life of Dundee over the centuries.
The one I chose for this Blip is entitled ‘Women of Dundee’. Women are at the heart of the tapestry, from Kettle Bilers to suffragettes, from the four Mary’s to what Dundee was, and still is known as ‘She Town’. Women were the backbone of industrial Dundee, this panel highlights some of Dundee‘s incredible women - millworkers, pioneers, engineers, suffragettes, and social reformers.
