Room with a View, The Winter Palace
Today the tour finished but we opted to stay on for another three nights in Luxor and moved to The Winter Palace hotel. This wonderful historic hotel right on the Corniche opened for business in 1886.
A regular guest at the hotel in the early days was Lord Carnarvon and it was from here that he and Howard Carter announced the discovery of Tutankhmun's Tomb. Agatha Christie stayed here and is rumored to have written Death on the Nile in part during her stay.
We were very excited about our balcony room with a view of the Nile!
