Sparrow on the patio
We woke to another wet day, but a much warmer house. And plenty of hot water for our showers.
This morning, we unpacked some more kitchen boxes - we now have plenty of plates and dishes, and most importantly, plenty of gin glasses, but we're still a bit short of cutlery. Oh well - only another 17 boxes to go!
Then the fridge and beds arrived. They were offloaded into the rooms they were destined for, but having not paid for installation, that was it. At least the delivery guys had carried the beds upstairs. We were left with large cardboard boxes to deal with.
We discovered that the fridge freezer has good wheels, so once it was off the cardboard and polystyrene base it was easy to push back into its gap.
And the beds (fancy electric adjustable bases), though heavy, were also easier to sort out than we'd anticipated.
So all sorted - we can sleep in the master bedroom tonight!
Then we popped round to meet our nearest neighbours. Seem like a lovely family. And they own all the land around our house, so I broached the idea that we would like to gradually replace the thick laurel hedges on the boundary with more natural hedging - not a problem!
All in all, an excellent settling in day.
W is cooking risotto for dinner, and I'm not shivering!
We didn't have sparrows in our garden in Norfolk - lots of other birds, but no sparrows, so nice to see something different hoovering up the bread crumbs we put out earlier.
