Water tower and pump house at Beningbrough Hall
This is the old water tower and pump house which stands by the river Ouse at the edge of Beningbrough Hall estate. It was built to pump water to the house and to a skating pond around the beginning of the 20th century.
There was a large tree that has recently come down right in front of it. Were it more accessible, I can imagine it being a good candidate for a 'Grand Designs' style conversion into an unusual residence.
The hall itself is a large Geogian manor house built in 1716 and currently under the care of The National Trust. It is closed for renovation until the summer, so we didn't go in this time. There are two shots of it in the extra photo.
