An exciting day

We decided to sell our apartment late last year, unfortunately just when the market started a downward slide.  It’s been a long, difficult and stressful time but, finally, my daughter and son-in-law found a buyer and we signed the contract on Sunday the 5th, which is why we made a sudden visit to Oamaru.  We had decided that we’d move right out of Auckland, and even out of the North Island.  Property is much more affordable there, life is lived at a less frenetic pace and we’d be able to top up the pension scheme.  We looked at 11 properties and came up with a short list of two.  We had to wait until today for our sale to become unconditional and have now put in an offer on our first choice.  Hopefully we will know by the end of the week whether we’ve been successful or not.

Our sale settles on the 6th of April, so we don’t have a lot of time to organise the move - hence our very long to-do list.  We’ve made a good start today and will just have to work our way through as quickly as we can.  We need to sell some items, buy some new ones, have it all packed, stored in a container and shipped to the South Island ready for when we return from our trip to Europe and the UK in the middle of July.  No pressure!!

We took my daughter and son-in-law out for dinner tonight to say a very big “thank you” for helping us through the last few months and for getting a buyer for our apartment.  They’ve been wonderful at keeping us calm and reassuring us that they would definitely get our apartment sold - and they did.

Apologies, but I am still way behind dipping into journals.

The blip is self-explanatory.
