1950’s bridesmaid!

Coffee with Pilates group first, then a physio session. My physiotherapist says I have done well and  I can now resume gym type activities and swimming from next week which is good.

More sorting of photographs…all the black and white ones etc from my childhood. This is when I was a bridesmaid for my godmother. The photo was actually hand coloured as they often were then prior to colour photographs.
I still have the gold locket I was given and the dress which is in a very bedraggled state…I think my daughter may have used it in the dressing up box!

The extras show the wedding, the bill for my mothers dress plus my bridesmaid dress and a couple of ordinary dresses for her and a photo of my parents with my mother wearing the posh dress. I looked up the relative prices as if the items were purchased today …over £1000 in total!……..this was an expensive dress shop back then ( I remember my father saying he had to sell a cow to lay the bill when my mother went shopping there!) My mother only went there occasionally and this was a very posh wedding. The other things I noticed was the colour of her dress on the bill …nigger/ beige….that would not be on a bill today! I do remember that nigger was a colour then, for shoes I think too.
