Planting for the future
Perhaps she will come along one day and tell her children that she planted the first tree in the new wood.
She took the job very seriously with the help of Neil, the forester, who suggested that the honour should be hers. (More pics as extras).
There will be many more trees to plant, and to mulch, and to water. It would be nice to think that by the time the trees are mature there will still be wildlife to benefit. Britain is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the Western world as a result of centuries of intensive agriculture: it has been farmed to death.
