Broken zip repaired.

My son in law broke the slider on his zip. It was simple to repair the only trouble was the new slider is red but he says he can live with that. If you are interested in what I did see below. 
1. Took the slider of a matching sized zip.
2. Cut one tooth from the top of the zip (top right picture)
3 Slid the new zip on through the gap created.
4. Sewed up the gap I created and put some extra stitches in to make sure the slider cannot come right off (bottom right)
5 coloured the zip black. I did a few coats. The picture shows just the first coat with a lot of red showing through
6 job done (top left)
Much easier than inserting a whole new zip.
