Tying up in Hobart
The captain and first officer supervise the docking in Hobart of Coral Discoverer. We’re impressed that, after 16 days at sea in sometimes challenging weather the docking and our subsequent disembarkation was absolutely precise in its timing.
The.extra shows a more expansive view of the Hobart waterfront, with Mt Wellington in the background. To the left is the RV Investigator, a marine research vessel operated by the CSIRO, Australia’s national scientific research organisation. It’s nice to see the name Investigator maintained. It was the name of the ship commanded by Matthew Flinders (Royal Navy) which made the first circumnavigation of Australia in 1801-03.
I’m now back home in Lennox Head, and have done some back blipping today to catch up with recent recent lack of internet connection. Now I’m looking forward to catching up with lots of Blipfoto journals I’ve not been able to view for the last 3 weeks.
