There's a Place for Us
Phil's beloved Elizabeth Station, home of more bottled beers than you'd have time to drink in a year (or more) and a rotating selection of draft beers, now has something that really appeals to me -- a wine-tasting room and a handpicked selection of wines!
We missed the opening event in the new room, featuring Spindrift Cellars, a small, family-owned winery not far from Corvallis, Oregon, but I had a glass of their Pinot Gris today, seen in the photo above, and enjoyed it very much, while Phil had a schooner of Cascade Brewing's "The Vine," a Northwest-style sour ale aged in oak barrels with grapes.
Elizabeth Station has also installed two taps for wine and offers their own bottles in which customers can take home the wines on tap -- like a growler for take-home beer.
(It seems frivolous to write about wine and beer on a day when so many people suffered enormous losses caused by the mile-wide tornado that devastated a large area near Oklahoma City, but I didn't know about the disaster until after I'd taken the photo and it was too late to do something else. My heart aches for the thousands of people whose lives will never be the same.)
