FLYING TIPPLER
The law of reversion is very much part of the Darwinian theory of evolution.
One starts with the the rock pigeon ( Columbia Livia ) and then reverses the characteristics of this original species.
This Flying Tippler is a descendant of Columbia Livia but like most racing and show pigeons the law of reversion has changed them dramatically! The flying Tippler loves to fly and these flying characteristics have been bred into them so that today this hardy little bird can fly for 20 plus hours. They are released from their lofts and are flown in a "kit" which is a team of around 5 birds. They love to compete and fly with each other . They fly mostly above their loft - round and round in a small circle - catching the updrafts and sometimes racking away in diferent directions to return soon after to the circular flight.
They are fascinating to watch and sometimes European owners have been known to have a tub of water which they watch instead of getting a 'crick' in their necks. I've never done that but I have often been seen lying on the ground looking skyward watching these mighty little warriors as just specks in amongst the clouds.
