Appreciation

This afternoon was spent with my sister trawling through the bags of photographs we took from Queensferry.

My mum kept the majority of photographs in a big white vinyl handbag. As a child I loved this bag.

There were photographs that neither of us had seen before, like this one of Auntie Sheila, Roberta and Nana Flora.

We intended to gather as many portraits of family as we could so we can create a family tree. Easier said than done as there are many photos where neither of us know who the people are. So sad.

The fashions and hairstyles through the ages are hilarious. I've been sending my kids collages of images of me every day since. Pink features heavily in my outfits, yet I would never have considered myself a pink girl.

It's a rabbit hole that was worth going down and a reminder to me to scour our photographs and clear all those where there is no context, blurred images and multiple copies. It also reminded me to print off some more recent images because they are well worth holding in your hand and enjoying.
