The Owner

The white-haired gentleman (turning 83 next August) owns the old trawler LN 110 - the lettering is only just legible - which is the one moored closest to him. I have chatted with him several times over recent years and had another chinwag again this afternoon.

I learnt that he still tends the vessel maintaining a pump which removes water from inside. He brings along a freshly charged 12 volt battery, he has devised a float device which turns on current to the pump when the water is a few inches deep and he tells me that the battery lasts a few weeks between charges.

Such is his attachment to the old faithful. Remarkable.
