The return of the toads

A damp, mild spring evening, and our ponds are full of amphibians. The Common Frogs started spawning on 27th February - there are now over 110 clumps of spawn, and they haven't stopped producing yet! Yesterday we heard the first Common Toads calling and tonight we counted thirty-six - not quite up to the peak of 2022 but doing very nicely. There's hardly any space for the few Common Newts we spotted!
