Once upon a time...

Around the Queen Elizabeth are a number of pictures of how life once was aboard a cruise ship.  This scene shows how.  it once was  in the 1920s/30s: there are gaily striped parasols on the deck which today are completely absent with no protection from the sun on the sun loungers at all.  Look at the whole picture and you'll see the lifeboats of the day, which must have been rather scary to be in.  The amount of activity on the deck is amazing with many games being played in a smallish space.  I can only suppose that this aspect is a product of the artist's imagination, to give a flavour of what you could do onboard ship!
