Lahnasenkoski

Our camera club made a trip to Ritakoski and Lahnasenkoski races in Simpele today. Both are part of Hiitolanjoki River in Rautjärvi and are home to Finland’s last remaining stock of original and fully natural landlocked salmon. Rapids has dams over 100 years, but on past two years dams were demolished to let salmons move freely from Lake Ladoga to spaw at Hiitolanjoki River. Great work to restore rapids to natural condition.
