Close encounter

MrM opted for a cycle ride this afternoon, while I decided to walk up to the Common in the hope of seeing a red squirrel or two. No luck on that score, but I did have an unexpected encounter with some deer.

Turned a corner on the main path and spotted this lovely little roe deer quite close by. She didn't seem at all bothered by my presence, and I stood and am I mad? talked to her for about 10 minutes as she grazed, before she slowly moved towards part of the wood. As she entered the woodland to my left, still grazing, two other roe deer leapt across from my right and came to an abrupt halt about 2 m away, before crossing the path in front of me and into the woods! Magical!

Home to cook a roast dinner.
