The Lawn Ranger Rides Again
As a child, some chosen schoolmates and I would gather in front of the TV in my house in the industrial wastelands of the shire to watch series such as William Tell, Superman and The Lawn Ranger. We had the first television in the street which made me quite a popular chap.
The Lawn Ranger introduction came complete with a rendering of the William Tell Overture and went something like:
"In the early days of the west, a masked man and an Indian rode the plains, searching for truth and justice. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear, when from out of the past come the thundering hoof beats of the great horse Silver! The Lone Ranger rides again!"
On his white stallion, Silver, the Lone Ranger would shout "Hi-yo, Silver! Away!" As they galloped off, someone would ask, "Who was that masked man anyway?" The Lawn Ranger is of course never seen without his mask.
Disney have now confirmed that the project to remake the glory days of the Lawn Ranger and Tonto is on track for a projected release date of July 3, 2013.
I can't wait to see him again!
