Frangipani
Summer’s credits roll
And frangipanis cut to
Star shapes on the lawn.
The 99-year-old family friend who died a couple of months ago was a member of a writers’ centre into her 90s. Among other things she wrote haikus, including one about falling frangipanis signifying the end of summer. I don’t have it, so wrote my own (until a niece comes good with a copy).
In Japan, I learnt from reading those short stories on the bus, there is a special ceremony 49 days after a person’s death.
Thanks for hosting KangaZu.
