Not Portobello Beach Edinburgh
Shortly after 0800 this morning I was able to spend some very quiet time in Gloucester Cathedral. I had the whole magnificent building to myself. In a distant side chapel I could hear the muffled sounds of Matins being said. In a further cloister a choir rehearsed. It is always an enormous privilege to be in such a magnificent setting - without another single human being in sight. The purpose and spiritual presence of the generations that have walked this way before us, in such a place, was deeply profound. No doubt I was being recorded on CCTV. This view is taken below the organ looking over the low altar towards the vast west window. Behind me was the medieval choir leading to the high altar and the great east window.
