HMS Hawkins

Model of HMS Hawkins, a cruiser built in 1917 and on which my great uncle served in WW2 as a writer. The memories of his time serving on her were some of the happiest times in his life and he loved talking about his time afloat. This model was made by Andrew as a present for Uncle Kenneth in about 1998 /1999 and was much loved by him. After Uncle Kenneth’s death the model came back to us and has journeyed with us through several house moves. Over the years various masts and details have got damaged and lost. So over the last few months Andrew has had her ‘in for repairs’ and a new coat of dazzle paint! Will have to be more careful with the duster now!
