A417 Link Planning

A strange title, you may think, but it's a real thing. It's been years, and years, in the planning but preliminary work is beginning later this year and full scale work begins in 2024.
The A417, out of Gloucester towards Cirencester, has been a HUGE pain in the neck for anyone that travels it. A MASSIVE bottleneck on the way to Gloucester and very frequent breakdowns, on Crickley Hill, causing lane closures and long delays for travellers of all types including lorries, which have to grind their way up the hill in a low gear.
On this page there is a terrific video showing the scale of the planned solution. You can see there has been an enormous amount of thought, and discussion including public debates, to get to this point

However, a lot of the years of planning and discussion may have been avoided if only Buddy and Hendrix had been around in the early years. As you can see, they have pretty well sorted it out between them  :-)
Edit note; 
The roadway they are using is in the form of jigsaw puzzles but they all interconnect with all of the others, giving great flexibility in how to form the road.
