Chwedl o ddwy ddinas
Chwedl o ddwy ddinas ~ A tale of two cities
"Hallelujah is a Hebrew word which means “Glory to the Lord.” The song explains that many kinds of hallelujahs do exist. I say all the perfect and broken hallelujahs have an equal value. It’s a desire to affirm my faith in life, with enthusiasm, with emotion.”
― Leonard Cohen

Chwedl o ddwy ddinas (y ddwy ohonyn nhw Caerdydd)...
Aethon ni i'r dre heddiw. Roedd lens wedi torri gyda fi ac gwnes i mynd â fe i siop gamera i'w cael ei drwsio (os oes posibl). Roedd rhaid iddyn nhw ei anfon e i ffwrdd, a bydda i'n ffeindio allan mewn pythefnos os gellir ei drwsio. Aethon ni hefyd i ‘Hanoi 1991’ eto oherwydd gwnaethon ni mwynhau’r bwyd Fietnam yr amser olaf (ac roeddwn i eisiau coffi wy eto).
Gwnaethon ni ymweld â rhai o siopau eraill ac yn prynu ychydig o bethau. Yn y siop Lego gwnaethon ni edrych ar y set ‘Rivendell’ ond mae'n ddrud iawn iawn.
Mae rhai o siopau yn ymddangos yn gwneud yn dda ond mae llawer o siopau eraill wedi diflannu. Mae'r canolfan siopa yn llawn o leoedd gwag. Efallai mai'n ganlyniad i'r pandemig neu rywbeth yn bod gyda'r economi. Y naill ffordd neu'r llall mae'n drist i weld bod y bywiogrwydd wedi mynd. Byddai'n dda i annog busnesau lleol ac annibynnol i mewn y lleoedd gwag, yn enwedig pe gallai'r rhenti fod yn fforddiadwy. Bydd e'n ddiddorol i weld beth fydd yn digwydd yma nesa. Bydd pa fath o ddinas y dyfodol o Gaerdydd?
Rydw i'n gobeithio am rhywbeth sy'n edrych fel ‘Rivendell’

A tale of two cities (both of them Cardiff)...
We went to town today. I had a broken lens and I took it to a camera shop to get it fixed (if possible). They had to send it away, and I'll find out in two weeks if it can be fixed. We also went to 'Hanoi 1991' again because we enjoyed the Vietnamese food last time (and I wanted egg coffee again).
We visited some other shops and bought a few things. In the Lego shop we looked at the 'Rivendell' set but it is very very expensive.
Some shops seem to be doing well but many others have disappeared. The shopping center is full of empty spaces. Maybe it's a result of the pandemic or something wrong with the economy. Either way it's sad to see the vibrancy gone. It would be good to encourage local and independent businesses into the empty spaces, especially if the rents could be affordable. It will be interesting to see what happens here next. What kind of city will Cardiff be in the future?
I'm hoping for something that looks like 'Rivendell'
