Blue Nose Shiners
Met these two on Alexander Creek, at the launch. The young man is a bundle of enthusiasm. He is going out in a Florida Fish and Wildlife boat to gather samples of the vegetation the shiners live in. They are a rare species only found in a few spring run creeks on the Peninsula and a few others on the panhandle. He is working on his doctorate and needs to prove a connection between the shiners habitat and plant growth. I could hear him talking for miles...he was vibrating with excitement. Nice to see such passion for the natural world.
