Welcome
The day did not start well. Phone call from the dentist saying that the lab work had not turned up so would have to postpone - and with the dentist then going on holiday for a couple of weeks I’ll have to endure almost another month of not being able to eat properly. Still, I suppose I’ll lose some more weight…..
A welcome diversion was a package of photographs that turned up in the post from the lovely CarolineJay , along with a lovely card featurung one of her own classic sunset-across-the-bay photos.
The photos date from over 20 years ago, when we had a splendid weekend in deepest Flanders celebrating my…..birthday. Top left you see Meles, CJ herself and our irrepressible friend Pauline, top right two darling Davids (DaveH left, Ogatodomar right), bottom left was dinner in the Rabbit restaurant with Carmen and her son Jan-Pieter larking about, and bottom right was some long forgotten indiscretion of Robb J’s, with P looking askance at him and Bill and Ann calmly continuing with their meal.
Robb wrote a song about that weekend - here’s the first verse:
A circle of friends somewhere in the night
Guitars and champagne in a circle of light
Who’d have believed we’d all be here?
Best drink a toast to the next 50 years…
And the years come and go, the years come and go
Like sunlight and snow.
Sending love to you, CJ. xx
