Blackthorn

The tiny buds on the Pollok Park Blackthorn bushes are just beginning to burst into bloom and just at the right height for me and my small camera.

Blackthorn is a native tree that makes a wonderful deciduous wildlife hedge. The sharp black thorns provide an impenetrable barrier for keeping intruders out and stock in, while a froth of small white, flowers open in early spring.
