Flyee thingy
A morning well spent with the Parklands Volunteers, planting four hundred saplings along part of the second playing field, waterside rest and the watercourse that runs into the pond, amongst other places.
Thirteen of us worked for a couple of hours either dropping the plugs into holes or, in my case, placing canes and guards over them. Very satisfying. They won't all survive, especially close to the football pitch, where balls regularly disappear into the ditch, brambles or trees.
Wild cherry, hawthorn, blackthorn, silver birch, oak, rowan and holly were some of the species planted.
JJ has a sore throat and has been loafing in the conservatory with the Saturday paper, lapping up the sunshine.
I have no idea what sort of fly this is, but it is just under a centimetre in length.
